WWE LIVE Where did it come from, and why do we love it so much?
WWE LIVE was found in the 1950’s by Jess Mcmahon and Toots Mondt as CWC (Capitol Wrestling Corporation). CWC was later rebranded to what we now know as WWE LIVE (World Wrestling Entertainment) in 2002, and has sky rocketed in popularity ever since. WWE LIVE is the largest professional wrestling company in the world. It has promoted some of the most successful wrestlers and storylines and featured some of the most iconic and significant matches and moments in the history of the sport. WWE LIVE currently airs several high-profile programs such as Raw and SmackDown in more than 150 countries, hosts 12 pay-per-view events a year including WrestleMania, and holds approximately 320 live events a year throughout the world. In 2014, WWE LIVE launched the first ever 24/7 streaming network which would eventually showcase the entire WWE LIVE video library. People love WWE for the same reasons they love NFL, NBA and MLB – the are drawn to watching athletes compete and the highest level, in an extremely high-pressure environment. The stakes are just as real as in traditional professional sports and as its live action, if you make a mistake it a ‘real’ mistake that will be captured by the cameras. The main difference between WWE LIVE and other competitive sports is that its scripted, just like Saturday Night Live. The scripted nature of WWE LIVE allows for strong story lines and characters to develop throughout the matches, this helps the audience connect and also builds a strong community of loyal fans.
