Seattle Mariners History
Ever since the Seattle Mariners were founded in 1977 they have been a major part of Seattle's sporting scene. With 3 West Division titles to their name (1995, 1997, 2005), it took a little while for the Mariners to find their rhythm and it wasn't until 1991 that they had their first winning season. The Ms used to play at the Kingdome until 1999 when the franchise moved into their new home Safeco Field. With a capacity of nearly 50,000, it is one of the largest ballparks in MLB and also has a retractable, umbrella roof. One of the most memorable moments in the Seattle Mariner's history came in 2012 when Venezuelan pitcher Félix Hernánadez threw a perfect game, the first in the M's history and 23rd in MLB history.
