Red Velvet members
Red Velvet were formed by K-Pop giants S.M. Entertainment. Initially starting as a four-piece group, the original Red Velvet band members were Irene, Seulgi, Wendy and Joy. The next year, in March 2015, Yeri was added as the fifth and final member of the group. Red Velvet has gained considerable success throughout Asia, especially in countries like Korea, Japan, Taiwan and China. The group is also making huge strides internationally, the Red Velvet single "Bad Boy" entered the Canadian Hot 100, making them just the seventh K-Pop group to enter the ranking. That's not all, in 2017 Red Velvet performed at the massively influential American festival SXSW, opening and closing the annual K-Pop Night Out showcase. Red Velvet have also toured Mexico, Japan, the USA and many other countries.
2018 has, so far, been a huge year for the South Korean girl group. As negotiations continue between North and South Korea, Red Velvet performed a massive concert at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre in the North Korean capital. To add to this occasion, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un was in the audience! The concert was billed as "Spring is Coming" and Red Velvet are playing a crucial part in the wider diplomatic initiative between the two countries.
