Originally a duo (until 2016), PNAU was formed in the mid-'90s by Sydney school friends Nick Littlemore and Peter Mayes. Different from the beginning, the duo kept away from the rock scene and initially played trance and acid house. Later, they moved towards the slightly more accessible genres of deep house, hip-hop, funk and even Latin. PNAU's debut album Sambanova (2000), which had to be pulled and re-released due to uncleared samples, won an ARIA award for Best Dance Release in 2000. The band's profile continued to grow throughout the 2000s, thanks in part to the release of their third album, the self-titled Pnau (2007). Shortly after hearing the album, music legend Elton John claimed it to be the greatest record he had heard in ten years and PNAU subsequently collaborated with Sir Elton on the record Good Morning to the Night (2012). Pnau also saw the coming together of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore for the tracks "With You Forever" and "Freedom", the two went on to form the hugely popular electro-pop group Empire of the Sun. With the release of the new PNAU album Changa (2017), and the addition of Sam Littlemore in 2016, the band show no sign of stopping or slowing down. Catch these trailblazers at one of their concerts in Australia or across the globe. Buy PNAU tickets today.
