Maroon 5 Background
Formed in the halls of Los Angeles' Brentwood School, both Adam Levine and Jesse Carmichael joined with Ryan Dusick and Mickey Madden to form a band known as "Kara's Flowers". When the band performed at a beach party in Malibu, they caught the attention of indie producer Tommy Allen, who straight away offered to manage them and record with his partner, songwriter John DeNicola. Considering DeNicola's credentials on the film Dirty Dancing, the band as "Kara's Flowers" graciously accepted and eventually ended up signing a record deal with Reprise Records. After limited success, Levine and Carmichael relocated to the East coast, attending the Five Towns College in New York.
It was during this time that Levine and Carmichael began taking notice of the urban music surrounding them, which would go on to influence their later songs. Levine and his gang actually found their break in the form of Octane Records. Adding a second guitarist to free-up Levine proved a masterstroke and the label urged the band to change their name in order to put the past behind them! Adding James Valentine into the mix, the band soon got to work, writing and recording what would be one of the band's most defining albums, Songs About Jane!
Maroon 5 Music
The band soon released their second album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long, with Levine deeming the album both "sexier and stronger" than Songs about Jane. Featuring influences from the likes of Talking Heads, Michael Jackson and Prince, there was no doubt to the electric feel that Maroon 5 infused in the album! In fact, guest vocals from Rihanna in "If I Never See Your Face Again" certainly helped to cement praise!
With Maroon 5 cultivating such a strong presence, it's no wonder that in 2008, Levine began wondering whether the band had indeed peaked! Their next album Hands All Over (2010) proved to be mixed bag for critics, however commercially it proved once again how loved Maroon 5 really are! Maroon 5 has released a further three albums Overexposed (2012), V (2014) and Red Pill Blues (2017). Maroon 5's music has featured numerous collaborations with artists like Rihanna, Christina Aguilera, Kendrick Lamar and Lady Antebellum.
And so here we now are, with Maroon 5 now one of the biggest bands in the industry! So make sure you grab your Maroon 5 tickets now and fast!
