Hyukoh's rise to popularity
Hyukoh don't quite fit into the K-Pop mould where many other Korean boybands have found success in recent years. They explicitly position themselves as nonconformists to the mainstream. The underground group gained popularity when they participated in the Korean TV show Infinite Challenge in 2015. The band has released one full-length studio album - 23 - and 2 EPs (20 and 22). Just two months after the release of 22, the band received international recognition as they charted in the top ten of the Billboard World Albums Chart. Their most famous hit, so far, is "Comes and Goes" which won Best Modern Rock Song at the 13th Korean Music Awards and peaked at number 1 in the Korean charts. The band has played to represent the Korean indie music scene in many festivals like Summer Sonic Festival in Japan and the Strawberry Music Festival in China.
