Donostia Festibala – a feast of Spanish music
Featuring some of the hottest acts in Latin pop, rock, indie, electronica and hip hop, Donostia Festibala is undoubtedly one of the liveliest music festivals on the Spanish circuit. Take a look at the range of Donostia Festibala tickets currently available on StubHub.
A distinctly strong Spanish flavour
The inaugural Donostia Festibala took place in 2018 at the Hipódromo Municipal de San Sebastián, which is second only to the Hipódromo de la Zarzuela in Madrid as the largest racecourse in all of Spain. Russian punk provocateurs Pussy Riot were unarguably the highest profile name on the bill, with other notable international acts including Los Angeles noise rock duo No Age, Californian surf rockers La Luz and Argentinian urban star Nathy Peluso. However, the majority of acts appearing at the festival hailed from Spain, including metal outfit Riot Propaganda, Basque trio Berri Txarrak, rock veterans Señor No, eclectic collective La Maravillosa Orquesta del Alcohol, Madrid rapper C. Tangana and contemporary flamenco performer Niño de Elche. This homegrown line-up gave Donostia Festibala a distinctly stronger Spanish flavour than most other mainstream music festivals taking place across the country and proved to be so popular that it then returned to the same venue in 2019. Bringing the party vibes to the racecourse
After drawing the crowds with a stellar mix of homegrown and international sounds for its first event, Donostia Festibala organisers ensured that the bill for its second year was just as strong. And they certainly didn’t disappoint. In 2019 the festival once again brought the party vibes to one of Spain’s premier racecourses, thanks to Spanish acts such as punk pop outfit Carolina Durante, hip-hop duos Ayax y Prok and Natos y Waor, indie-pop singer-songwriter Carlos Sadness, rumba Catalana group La Pegatina, Latin Grammy Award-winner Mala Rodriguez, reggae-rap band Beret, political rap outfit Lágrimas de Sangre, Basque rockers Gatibu and dub reggae pairing Iseo & Dodosound with The Mousehunters. Fans who wanted to dance the night away could also enjoy the pulsing sounds of DJ sets by the likes of Makalda, P3Z and Atraco Negrata, while all festivalgoers could sample a selection of food and drink at various stalls.
