Cleveland Indians History
Formed in 1894, the Indians have never enjoyed a period of sustained success. Their 2 World Series titles came in 1920 and 1948. However, the 'tribe' look to be putting this behind them and have recently gone back to winning ways. In 2016 The Tribe won an AL Pennant and also won the Central Division three years in a row (2016, 2017 and 2018), meaning three consecutive MLB Postseason appearances. There is no doubt that this is a great time to be an Indians fan and if there was ever going to be a time that the Central Division MLB team win their third World Series title, it's now.
Originating in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the team relocated to Cleveland in 1900. The Franchise has been through numerous name changes over the years, including Grand Rapids Rustlers (1894-1899), Cleveland Lake Shores (1900), Cleveland Bluebirds (1901), Cleveland Broncos (1902), Cleveland Naps (1903-1914) and finally the Cleveland Indians (1915-present) There have been several players that played for the Cleveland Indians and have now been inducted into the Hall of Fame, such as Bob Feller, Jim Thorne, Larry Doby and many more.
