Chicago Cubs – the White Sox’s MLB rivals
Alongside the Chicago White Sox, the Chicago Cubs have represented the Windy City in the Major League Baseball League since the early 20th century. Take a look at the various Chicago Cubs schedule tickets now available on StubHub.
No less than three World Series titles
Formed in 1876, the Chicago Cubs began life as the White Stockings before adopting their more familiar moniker in 1903. The founding member of the National League won consecutive World Series titles in the late 1900s, the first ever team to achieve such a feat. Although they had to wait another 108 years to add to their tally, defeating the Cleveland Indians 4-3 in a hotly contested series in 2016, the team has also won no less than 17 NL pennants and five Central Division and two East Division titles during their rich history. Notable Hall of Famers have included Ferguson Jenkins, Johnny Evers, Kiki Cuyler, Billy Williams, Joe Tinker and Billy Herman, while famous coaches include Joe Maddon, Frank Chance and Cap Anson. Nicknamed the Cubbies, the North Siders and the Boys in Blue, the Chicago Cubs have also developed an intense rivalry with their neighbours, the Chicago White Sox, that has become known as the Crosstown classic. The historic Wrigley Field
After moving around a whole host of venues during their early years, the Chicago Cubs eventually settled at Wrigley Field in 1916 and haven’t moved since. Renowned for its ivy-strewn exterior brick wall, the 42,000-capacity venue also housed several other teams in the 20th century, including the NFL’s Chicago Bears and the NASL’s Chicago Sting, and has staged several musical concerts, with Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, James Taylor and Lady Gaga just a few of the greats who have performed there. The stadium is at its most electric when the Chicago Cubs take to the field; sights you should expect to see include the waving of the Cubs Win Flag, the young bear mascot named Bob and well-known longtime fan Ronnie "Woo Woo" Wickers. You should also expect plenty of songs too, with "Take Me Out the Ball Game" and "Go, Cubs, Go" particular favourites.
