Champions League 2019 - Final venue

The final of the Champions League will take place at Atletico Madrid's home stadium - the brand new Wanda Metropolitano. This stadium, located in the Spanish capital, was re-opened in September 2017 and has a capacity of nearly 70,000 fans. The A Short History of the Champions League

Founded in 1955, The Champions League has become one of the greatest sporting events of today. The teams then go through the group stages, which is followed by a knockout phase. This is contested by the eight group winners and eight runners-up. After all of these exciting stages, the epic final takes place in June this year, where one team is crowned footballing King of Europe. This is the ultimate ending to one of the biggest football competitions in the world. 

Real Madrid is by far the most successful club in Europe, with an astonishing 13 titles. Spain itself has provided the most champions, with 18 wins from two clubs (Madrid and Barcelona).
