Bon Iver: Justin Vernon’s Grammy-Winning Collective
Brainchild of singer-songwriter Justin Vernon, Bon Iver initially began as an indie-folk solo project before expanding into a Grammy-winning collective that has experimented with everything from Alt-R&B to electronica. Now you can buy and sell Bon Iver tickets on StubHub.
From intimate folk to lush electronica
Justin Vernon formed Bon Iver in 2006 following the split of indie-folk outfit DeYarmond Edison. He recorded his first album under the guise "For Emma, Forever Ago" in an isolated wood cabin, and went on to receive huge critical acclaim following its 2008 release. After being recruited by Kanye West to appear on his "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" LP, Vernon embraced a much lusher, orchestral sound on the sophomore effort "Bon Iver, Bon Iver." Vernon picked up Best New Artist and Best Alternative Album at the following year’s Grammys, but after a year-long tour, took a break from Bon Iver to pursue various other projects, including blues outfit The Shouting Matches and indie-rockers Volcano Choir. He once again reinvented himself as a folktronica artist for 2016’s "22, A Million," which, like its predecessor, peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200. In 2019 Vernon invited the likes of Bruce Hornsby, James Blake, and Moses Sumney to guest-star on Bon Iver’s fifth studio effort, "I, I." A thrillingly unpredictable live act
Bon Iver have become renowned for changing their setlists on a whim, lending each and every show an air of thrilling unpredictability. Front man Vernon has never been willing to compromise in the studio, and he proves every bit as imaginative on stage. Typically dressed down for the occasion, the celebrated troubadour is just as likely to perform an obscure B-side as he is a contemporary classic such as "Skinny Love" or "Blood Bank." But whatever songs make the cut, audiences can be sure they’re in for a spell-binding experience. Vernon mostly shares the stage with his regular backing band on the more expansive numbers. But he’s also capable of commanding everyone’s attention accompanied by nothing but a mic and guitar, often reducing the crowd to a hush with his awe-inspiring a cappella resonances. If you haven’t yet seen one of America’s most gifted and most transformative singer-songwriters in his element, then take a look at the various Bon Iver tickets now available at StubHub.
